Eagles Linked To Nearly Every High Profile WR In Free Agency

The Eagles are desperate to add a talented wide receiver to the roster so that Carson Wentz has someone he can fling the ball to. Of course that means that the Eagles are pretty much being linked to every high profile WR free agent entering the market. The latest name in the mix is Alshon Jeffery.

Jeffery has been playing with the Bears and is considered to be the best WR on the market who is expected to land a generous payday despite being banned for 4 games last year because he violated NFL policy on performance enhancing substances. For the Eagles, it may be too steep in price to land Jeffery.

He is expected to be looking for salaries similar to Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas which would mean an average of $14 million per season with more than $30 million guaranteed. If the Eagles don’t want to go that high they can look at alternative talent on the market such as Washington’s Pierre Garcon.

The Redskins ideally want Garcon to stay but if he chooses to leave there are plenty of names in the mix with the Rams, Bears, Cowboys and 49ers already said to be keen. Add in the Eagles to that mix and there is a good number of teams chasing his talents. He would be an upgrade over the current Eagles receivers but he is 30 years old and so would not likely be a long term option for the team.

Similar situation for DeSean Jackson who has also said he wants to ideally stay in Washington but will take the best offer on the table. There are also multiple sources of interest in Jackson with Tampa Bay mentioned among others. Miami’s Kenny Stills has youth on his side, he is only 24 years old and did well last season. He pulled in 17.3 yards per catch and 9 touchdowns.

There are plenty of teams in the market of receivers this season so how it plays out we will have to wait and see but the Eagles will be hoping they can add strong talent to help Wentz in the upcoming year.
